Comparison: ENLYZE vs MPDV
MES or ENLYZE:
What are the differences?
Many of our customers consider ENLYZE to be an MES system. No wonder, because many of these systems share our promise: to produce better with data.
The essential differences at a glance
Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) help to better plan productions. Increasing productivity is just a side effect. ENLYZE, on the other hand, focuses entirely on uncovering the biggest losses and increasing the productivity of your plants based on production data.
A closer look:
Here's how ENLYZE differs from MES
While an MES can handle various aspects of production planning (but often not everything satisfactorily), we focus on increasing your productivity
That means: ENLYZE deliberately does not offer functions such as inventory management, quality assurance, or production planning
Instead, our entire attention is focused on functions that increase the productivity of your production: measuring OEE, capturing downtime, making processes reproducible, etc.
At MES, the ROI is difficult to calculate because it does not aim to improve productivity, but usually only simplifies production planning
So it must be weighed how much time the MES saves them and what cost savings are behind it
ENLYZE achieves up to 15% more productivity and thus up to €360,000 annual cost savings for our customers. This means that the ROI is usually achieved in less than 30 days
For an MES, a high 6-digit amount is usually due as an upfront investment. In addition, there are licensing costs, consultant fees, later adjustments, internal personnel costs, etc.
An MES usually needs a thorough revision or a completely new system integrated every 10 years
On the other hand, the costs for ENLYZE are transparent: with a monthly investment of usually 2,000-10,000€ (depending on the number of connected systems), you always have a state-of-the-art system without any additional hidden costs
A typical MES implementation takes 8 to 12 months, as various functionalities such as quality assurance, production planning, etc. need to be integrated and the associated processes need to be developed
ENLYZE is ready for use in under two weeks, even for older machine parks. Based on that, new use cases and systems relying on the machine data provided by ENLYZE can be gradually developed. Here you can learn more about our integration.
Providers of MES software primarily sell their system and offer the integration of machine data if needed. However, the integration is all too often underestimated in its complexity.
None of the MES providers our customers have worked with so far have been able to manage this integration.
This ultimately leads to many ME systems being based on manual data entry: downtimes are entered manually, OEE is estimated only based on the on/off signals of the PLC.
ENLYZE, on the other hand, starts with capturing ALL manufacturing data (machine data, ERP, MES, etc.) in your shop floor. All KPIs are calculated based on machine data. This way, even the smallest downtimes are recorded, and the OEE is accurately calculated at 100%.
What follows is greatly simplified, but gives you a better idea of the daily use of both systems:
An MES helps you better plan your production. Also, a few fundamental functions to improve your production are often integrated:
Create production orders
Schedule shifts
Plan material and inventory
Monitor quality
ENLYZE focuses directly on real added value based on your data. We show you where you are losing productivity, and help you remedy these losses. Our core functions include:
Monitor productivity
Identify losses (availability, speed, quality)
Root cause analysis for losses
Initiate steps to increase productivity
Track the impact on productivity
In addition, based on the recorded machine data and our integration with various tools, many other use cases can be realized.
Predictive maintenance
Quality assurance
Proactive material and inventory management
AI-based improvements to your production
