OEE Calculation for Continuous Manufacturing
The OEE originally comes from batch production. When the OEE concept was transferred to continuous manufacturing, instead of using the Ideal Cycle Time, it was calculated with plant-specific performance references. This assumes that all products on a plant are manufactured with the same performance; this is unrealistic and leads to unusable OEE values. Most OEE software providers still use this approach.
ENLYZE, on the other hand, calculates with the Maximum Demonstrated Speed (MDS), a product-specific performance calculation for continuous manufacturing. This is possible because ENLYZE combines machine, order, and product data (from MES/ERP) in the background, thus understanding the maximum performance level for each plant-product combination. This gives you OEE values that are genuinely suitable for optimizing your production.
